The punishment for greed

Is to find several branches on the nectarine trees sheered off the trunks due to the weight of fruit.  One branch had about 10kg of fruit on it.  Oh how could I have been so greedy and thoughtless?  Poor poor trees.

And now, after weeks of no rain at all, it is pouring huge rain drops.  So undoubtedly there will be more damage by the time the orchard is accessible.

Colorful pestemals

I recently bought these gorgeous pestemals to use as bath towels.  They are hamam towels, handmade in Turkey and available through myturkishtextiles.com. They are not expensive, they packed down so well that the postage from the US distributor was amazingly acceptable, they look great (you should see what I didn't buy!) and it's great to support artisans.
See how dry the ground is?  5mm rain is all we've had for the past 6 weeks. Back to the days of endless drought.

And here's another artisan - bit tatty.
