What a week

Pruned 200+ blueberry bushes.

The beekeeper came to practice walking through the orchard after sunset - we're getting two hives!  I'm pleased and apprehensive.  The responsibility for all those creatures!  And I have a moral dilemma (of my own making) - I don't think that herding bees (herding anything for that matter) is the right thing to do.  Hopefully they'll have a pleasant life and blueberry flowers will be to their liking.

The farm manager thought he'd witnessed a miracle - the exit of squatting sparrows from the netting.  We stomped around the orchard trying to flush out any birds as proof of this miracle, to no avail - they sat somewhere silently.  But today they proved the FM had been hallucinating.

Anzacs and marzipan stuffed ma'amoul were baked in readiness for Saturday's lighting workshop.

The first jars of preserved pears were put up. Pear ginger and date chutney prepped.  Over 10kg of pears still to be handled.

And the most amazing thunderstorm raged for about 10 minutes. Nothing like a good thunderstorm for energy revival.
