The prettiest use of red cabbage

Red cabbages abound in the vegetable garden and there are many uses of the leaves:

  1. us to eat
  2. the neighbour's chickens to eat
  3. me to use for dyeing silk fabric.

The last is my favourite, followed by the second and last point one - by which statement you might have gathered that enough is enough!

I boiled red cabbage leaves, then divided the liquor in two - silk in one pan with more heat and silk in the glass jar which was left on the back verandah for solarising.  Quite different colors ensued - will post pics soon.
